Need a Diamond Benefit Refresher? Are You One to Let Your Suite Awards Gather Dust?

January 2016

Hyatt Gold Passport members are awarded with Diamond status after 25 eligible paid stays or 50 eligible nights in a calendar year (award nights do not count, but Points + Cash nights do)!

In addition to a great cache of Gold Passport Diamond benefits, the four Suite Upgrade Awards given out each March are a wonderful benefit if you use them wisely.

We recently used one Suite Upgrade Award at the Palacio Duhau - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires for all five nights, one for three nights at the Kuala Lumpur Grand Hyatt and one for three nights at the Singapore Grand Hyatt. All three suites were incredibly luxurious.

We want you to enjoy as much value as possible from each Suite Upgrade Award so we’ve provided a few suggestions:

  • Each award can be used for up to 7 consecutive nights, so it is most strategic to use them for longer stays in order to get the most benefit out of each one

  • As long as you book your current suite upgrades by February 29, 2016, you can use them for a stay well into the future beyond the expiration date; but when the diamond suite upgrades are awarded in March 2016, you will be required to use all of those for stays prior to February 28, 2017

  • Suite upgrades are not always available, so if you intend to book a multi-night paid stay at a great resort or need additional space we suggest calling to inquire if your stay qualifies for a Suite Upgrade Award right away (don’t hoard them)

  • While awards can’t be used for free stays using Gold Passport points, you can use them for paid nights booked through Hyatt including Points + Cash stays

  • You must call Hyatt to redeem the awards at 800.400.2261; Suite Upgrade Awards cannot be redeemed online

  • When you log into your Gold Passport account, you can access your awards under “Account Details,” “My Awards" and then “Suite Upgrade Awards”

  • These awards can not be redeemed at M life hotels and resorts or at a few Hyatt hotels disclosed in the footnotes on the Diamond Membership page

And we will wrap up with a Diamond Benefit refresher:

  • 4 suite upgrades each year

  • A 30% bonus on Gold Passport base points earned

  • An upgrade to the  best room available upon arrival, excluding suites

  • Access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge and in hotels without a club, enjoy daily complimentary breakfast for up to 4 registered guests per room

  • Complimentary premium Internet access where available

  • 4 p.m. check-out when available

  • Bonus points or a food and beverage amenity at check-in

  • 2 complimentary 1-time-use United Club passes each year (NEW in 2015)

  • For the rest of 2016, Diamond benefits can now be extended to your friends and loved ones when you book them a room using your Gold Passport points with Hyatt’s Guest of Honor

The Wrap-Up:

We hope these tips help you to enjoy the most from this valuable Gold Passport Diamond benefit!

And don't forget to use all of your current Suite Award Upgrades before they expire February 29, 2016, by booking a stay before that date that can extend well into the future. Now go get yourself a suite!
